Requirements

  • Advanced, technical product and process knowledge in footwear development
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of the total footwear construction process, including outsole/midsole technical 2D/3D, pattern engineering, material construction and properties, and costing
  • Understanding of manufacturing capabilities, with ability to anticipate issues, problem solve, and achieve timely resolutions
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to enhance product performance and value
  • Strong communication skills to convey ideas across product teams

Responsibilities

  • Own leading execution of New Upper, New Tooling Projects, including leading projects from creation to final confirmation with T1
  • Oversee and manage multiple projects from Insights gathering to Brief Stage, through Design, Development, Costing, and into Commercialization
  • Deliver on Brooks Fit, Feel, Ride principles and goals via unwavering dedication to excellence
  • Plan and execute project development according to seasonal critical dates for on-time delivery of sales samples and production confirmation
  • Partner with and influence vendors and factories to advance manufacturing techniques and enhance product performance
  • Partner with and guide Design and Development teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet cost and quality objectives
  • Critique, adjust, and evaluate technical blueprints (outsole/midsole/upper), upper patterns, and materials from performance, manufacturing, and functional perspectives
  • Recommend and specify materials, components, and construction options to meet pricing targets, functional goals, and product performance integrity through testing
  • Mentor more junior team members
  • Initiate and lead meetings with product teams during development phases to review, evaluate, update, and drive decision-making for on-time production confirmation and margin goals
  • Collaborate with Research, Design and Development, Marketing, Costing teams, and Color Designers to present sample materials meeting category criteria based on performance data
  • Create and build a knowledge base on vendor capabilities, performance, factory relationships, quality issues, and materials
