Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in transportation, fleet operations, fleet maintenance, or fleet safety
  • Knowledge of refrigeration units, light-/medium-duty vehicles, and basic mechanical systems
  • Skilled in PM/CM coordination, vendor management, and cost-control practices
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Comfortable working evening or overnight shifts supporting active fleet operations
  • Excellent communicator with drivers, dispatchers, and vendors
  • Experience leading and coaching in fleet, warehouse, or delivery environments
  • Familiar with WMS, telematics, and fleet management systems

Responsibilities

  • Champion fleet safety programs in partnership with the Sr. Manager of EHS and site leadership
  • Uphold DOT, OSHA, food safety, and company safety standards
  • Conduct vehicle and driver equipment safety audits; track trends and implement corrective actions
  • Review violations and collaborate with AGMs and Safety Leads on preventive programs
  • Lead initiatives to improve PM compliance, fleet readiness, and loadout safety performance
  • Manage Preventive/Corrective Maintenance (PM/CM) programs to reduce downtime and cost per mile
  • Drive vendor performance and support service contract negotiations to improve quality and control spend
  • Audit fleet maintenance records and invoices for trends and compliance with company standards
  • Track KPIs such as uptime, downtime, repair turnaround, and PM adherence
  • Use telematics to monitor vehicle health, driver compliance, fuel efficiency, and utilization
  • Maintain compliance with all inspection, registration, IFTA, toll, and licensing requirements
  • Develop and enforce driver pre- and post-trip inspection standards and accountability
  • Oversee accident reporting and investigations with an emphasis on corrective action and process discipline
  • Coordinate daily repair activity with maintenance vendors to minimize service disruptions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
