Position Overview

We are looking for proven problem solvers to join our Financial Crime team as Business Banking Financial Crime Investigators. You will play a key role in preventing financial crime and helping us achieve our mission to make money work for everyone. This role offers the opportunity to start or continue building a career in financial crime prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Analysing potentially unusual or suspicious behaviour on business accounts flagged by our transaction monitoring system and deciding on appropriate action.
  • Documenting suspicious activity and submitting it to the National Crime Agency.
  • Reviewing account applications from new business customers.
  • Securing funds obtained through fraud for return to victims.
  • Closing business accounts when necessary and ensuring funds are returned correctly.
  • Responding to escalations regarding potential financial crime concerns on business accounts.
  • You will initially be trained on specific tasks with opportunities for upskilling across all responsibilities over time.

Requirements

  • Experience handling challenging customer cases in a regulated industry, or existing operational fraud or financial crime experience (in retail or business banking). This could include handling difficult complaints, investigating fraud or transaction disputes, making customer onboarding decisions, working with customers on repayment plans, or reviewing potential money laundering concerns.
  • Other relevant experience that adds value to this role will also be considered.
  • Interest in learning about emerging trends in financial crime.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to connect dots, spot patterns in data, and independently solve problems.
  • Confidence in making difficult, customer-impacting decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas simply and strong written English.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on achieving personal performance goals.
  • Keen interest in personal development and continuous learning, with support for industry-recognised qualifications.

Note: While advertised for Financial Crime Business Banking, there may be opportunities to flex between other Financial Crime pillars (Anti Money Laundering, Screening, or Law Enforcement) with additional training provided.

Work Schedule

  • Start Date: Monday, 1st September 2025
  • Shifts: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, with a one-hour lunch break.
  • Weekend Work: One full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) every 5 weeks, with 2 set days in lieu.
