Candidates should be qualified accountants with post-qualified experience in internal controls, preferably within financial services or related industries, including Big 4 or similar experience. A strong technical background in internal controls/internal audit/SOX 404 is required, with knowledge of SAP and/or Blackline being a bonus. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups are essential. A good understanding of key financial controls and the banking/control landscape is necessary. Experience with data and programming tools such as Looker, SQL, Big Query, and Dashboards is a bonus. Strong communication skills are needed to explain complex technical information to various audiences, and candidates should be self-starters who thrive in dynamic environments.
The Finance Internal Controls Analyst will support Monzo in maintaining robust controls and processes, driving control analytics, and performing root cause analysis. Key responsibilities include monitoring and improving controls, conducting process walkthroughs, supporting internal and external audits, and designing effective controls performance reporting. The role involves providing guidance on financial controls, enhancing the internal control framework, supporting control remediation projects, and partnering with engineers for process automation. Additionally, the analyst will coordinate reporting to management on control framework effectiveness, advise the business on control environments during ERP changes and EU expansion, perform deep dives to evaluate and improve financial controls, and collaborate with risk and governance teams. The role also includes drafting action plans for control gaps, creating finance policies and manuals, and providing finance training to both finance and non-finance professionals.
