Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training
  • Networks with senior internal and external personnel
  • Good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Experience working with data center and POP infrastructure
  • Experience with installing and maintaining telecom/network equipment
  • Deep understanding of splicing and manhole/vault/handhole environments
  • Experience with telecommunications testing equipment
  • Extensive knowledge of telecommunications testing standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of state and local regulatory standards, procedures, and permitting requirements
  • Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and diagnose problems
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, workflow, and project management applications

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to assigned locations (data centers, POPs) and physical site services
  • Coordinate with network teams and local vendors for installation, repair, and maintenance
  • Deploy (physical layer) rack and stack configurations
  • Perform physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing activities
  • Perform card adds or replacements, software upgrades, and associated testing
  • Recommend improvements to processes impacting network assets or efficiencies
  • Provide site survey support for OSP and ISP projects
  • Perform site audits and reconcile data discrepancies
  • Manage local construction vendors to ensure compliance with standards
  • Meet/coordinate with LECs and other technicians for installation, repair, and maintenance
  • Perform site surveys in support of network builds, augments, or decommissions
  • Coordinate site access and equipment staging
  • Leverage knowledge and expertise
  • Perform other duties as required
