The UK/IRE team is seeking a Field Application Scientist (FAS) to cover South Wales and the South West of England. This is a field-based role requiring travel across the region to support customers. The FAS partners with clinical and research customers to provide technical training, troubleshooting, and complaint resolution. This position serves as a scientific consultant during pre- and post-sales activities and collaborates with the commercial team to maximize sales growth and customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinating new installations, including facility inspections, instrument validation, and customer training.
  • Reviewing and approving the operational quality of equipment.
  • Instructing customers on the operation and maintenance of systems.
  • Troubleshooting issues related to user technical skills, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design, software, and instruments.
  • Interpreting customer needs and identifying responsibility for problem resolution (sales, engineering, or other personnel).
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers in the assigned territory.
  • Helping to maintain and increase product usage, supporting key account and strategic sales efforts through technical presentations and demonstrations.
  • Attending quarterly business reviews.
  • Assisting sales and marketing on new strategic sales initiatives requiring technical depth and market knowledge.
  • Developing and improving key company processes that support building a world-class customer support organization.
  • Managing the elevation process for application issues with customers' instruments, customer issues, and kit issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Genetics required, plus 2+ years of related experience OR an advanced degree without experience.
  • Considerable experience using Genotyping and/or Sequencing technologies is highly desirable.
  • Previous biotech experience is beneficial.
