Must be located within 40 miles of Murfreesboro, TN
Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field strongly desired (pending degree or proven sales/industry experience may be considered)
Previous sales experience highly desired
Basic command of making nutritional and feeding recommendations to animal owners
Understanding of husbandry, current management practices, nutritional guidelines, general market, and industry knowledge
Work/life experience in management and care of animals
Strong background and previous professional experience with grass cattle, equine, and companion animals
Competent in providing accurate feeding and management recommendations
Strong computer skills, specifically MS Office, and ability to be trained on ration balancing software (HerdSmart), Salesforce, etc
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organization and time management skills
High internal drive, natural ability for relationship building, and leadership in a team environment
Ability and drive to make multiple daily sales calls to customers and prospects
Ability to interact on farms in all weather types for walk-throughs and animal evaluations
Ability to network in the industry to connect producers for additional business and relationships
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
Solid public speaking skills
Willingness to travel 15% overnight, plus daily travel in assigned geography
Responsibilities
Call on animal owners (primary focus on grass cattle, equine, and companion animals) to evaluate existing feeding programs, recommend, and assist with nutritional programs
Sell/consult at the farm gate (up to 25 farm calls per week) to sell Purina, Co-op, Triple Crown, and Cumberland Mills products/programs, grow sales and market share, develop new prospects, and make cold calls
Organize and conduct effective educational meetings/events for 4H clubs, saddle clubs, vets, trainers, lifestyle show clubs, cattleman associations, etc., to enhance brand image, sell product, and build store traffic for local co-op/dealer
