Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (United States), vocational or technical education or certification (all other countries)

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment
  • Performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding
  • Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment
  • Uses hand and power tools
  • Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment
  • Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
  • Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development
  • Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations
  • Suggests and/or makes improvements to optimize work processes
  • Trains, delegates, and reviews the work of lower level employees
  • Leads daily operations of a work unit
  • Ensures project plans and budgets are met
  • Recommends improvements to test processes and procedures across teams
  • Performs most complex technical activities and identifies, evaluates, and implements continuous improvements to optimize work processes
  • Works with supervisor to implement adjustments or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness
  • Communicates with internal contacts, including participating in benchmarking other business units, and obtains/provides technical information on matters of significant importance
  • Acts as a team leader or coach and assistant to the supervisor/manager
  • Delegates tasks to other team members and reviews work product and processes
  • Provides input to people management decisions
