Requirements
Candidates should possess native fluency in the target language, extensive knowledge of the source language, and the ability to communicate fluently in English for production matters. A university degree or equivalent professional experience in the translation field is required, along with experience in localization QC, audiovisual translation and subtitling. Familiarity with subtitle editing software, web/cloud technology, and understanding of closed captioning and subtitling challenges is also necessary.
Responsibilities
The Expert Subtitle Translator/QCer will be responsible for translating Japanese content into Traditional Chinese for subtitles, ensuring accuracy and cultural appropriateness. They will also perform quality control checks on subtitles, identify and correct errors, and collaborate with the team to ensure the highest quality of work. Additionally, they will need to communicate effectively with the team in English regarding production matters and adapt to workflow changes, demonstrating attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
