Candidates should possess extensive expertise specifically in Antarctica and the Arctic, and must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additional duties may be added or assigned at any time. The Expedition Leader should be prepared for contract periods of a minimum of 3-5 weeks at a time, with varying hours each day based on the itinerary.
The Expedition Leader will serve as the primary communicator, manager, and coordinator of all guest and staff-related expedition activities, acting as the primary liaison between the office and field while implementing the company’s initiatives. They will give or coordinate briefings and announcements to keep guests informed and confident, represent guest interests to the Captain and department heads, collaborate with the Captain, Officers, and Crew to ensure safe operations and the best possible expedition, report back to the office on the status of relationships with destinations and suppliers, effectively deal with challenging guests and situations, coordinate and ensure quality of presentations and field interpretation, manage expedition staff to provide the best possible service, act as a role model for the expedition staff, provide guidance and feedback to staff, consult with the Field Staff Director about staff feedback, and represent expedition staff’s interests to the ship’s officers and Lindblad office.
