Completion of High School and/or equivalent
2 years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment
Valid Driver’s License
Knowledge of yard operations and ferrous metals/classifications

Reliable transportation as the work site is not accessible by city transit

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain heavy motorized equipment (loaders, crane, grapple crane, shear, etc.) for unloading and loading ferrous materials
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including checking fluids
Load trucks accurately (proper weights), safely, and efficiently, communicating via radio to scale personnel
Unload transports with ferrous materials safely and efficiently, cleaning trailers
Stockpile/sort metals and place them in designated areas
Use hand-held mobile radio devices to coordinate tasks with yard and scale personnel
Maintain accurate logs and records daily, weekly, and monthly as required
Collaborate with scale operator and office staff to ensure smooth unloading of customers’ materials and steady traffic flow to minimize yard congestion
