  • Completion of High School and/or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of yard operations and ferrous metals/classifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain heavy motorized equipment (loaders, crane, grapple crane, shear, etc.) for unloading and loading ferrous materials
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including checking fluids
  • Load trucks accurately (proper weights), safely, and efficiently, communicating via radio to scale personnel
  • Unload transports with ferrous materials safely and efficiently, cleaning trailers
  • Stockpile/sort metals and place them in designated areas
  • Use hand-held mobile radio devices to coordinate tasks with yard and scale personnel
  • Maintain accurate logs and records daily, weekly, and monthly as required
  • Collaborate with scale operator and office staff to ensure smooth unloading of customers’ materials and steady traffic flow to minimize yard congestion
