Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of previous experience as a Digital Matte Painter or 3D Environment Artist for live-action feature and/or television
  • Strong understanding of 3D packages including 3ds Max, Maya and Houdini and 2D/Shading packages such as Nuke, Adobe Photoshop and Substance
  • Knowledge of supplementary software including ZBrush, Gaea, and SpeedTree also strongly recommended, as well as basic lighting knowledge
  • Strong Matte Painting and 2.5D projection skills
  • Compositing and scripting experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of AI/generative workflows and tools is a plus
  • Strong willingness to grow, learn new methods & tools, and share knowledge with others
  • Ability to work and solve technical issues independently
  • Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and an open mind
  • Team player able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Assess the most efficient methodology per environment brief along with Lead and/or Supervisor
  • Receive and respond to artistic/technical direction and feedback
  • Approaches will vary from a 2.5D Matte Painting projection setups, through full 3D asset builds using bespoke and procedural tools
  • Provide and acquire photographic reference materials
  • Perform tasks related to integrating imagery into shots and preserving a unified sense of lighting, perspective, and color
  • Use photography, practical, and digital skills to create photoreal 3D environments
  • Revise work based on client and supervisor feedback in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly with production regarding schedule and task assignments
  • Manage scene files and hand off work to other departments in an organised fashion
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve technical issues independently or with assistance from TDs and/or Pipeline
