Requirements

  • Course or project-based experience developing code to manipulate data (SQL and Python preferred)
  • Course or project-based work using basic data engineering concepts (ETL, ELT)
  • Shown ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Highly engaged, ambitious problem solver who is self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Eager to collaborate, become part of a team, and lean-in on asking questions from leadership
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate program in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Software, or related major preferred
  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to the internship and returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship (or currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship)
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: may only work for one consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of internship and/or program
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Responsibilities

  • Lead a coding project end-to-end, in close collaboration with a mentor, and understand how the team’s work contributes to the Ad Sales organization overall
  • Learn how to contribute production-grade code to a complex data engineering system, and gain exposure to enterprise code collaboration patterns
  • Partner with senior members of the Data Science Engineering team to develop knowledge of advertising sales as an industry and the broad suite of datasets powering predictive models and analytical products
  • Collaborate with full-time data scientists and data engineers to gain perspective on different aspects of day-to-day projects and responsibilities
  • Attend team prioritization, reviews, and standups to understand ways of working and actively participate and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
  • Network with individuals across the Data & Measurement Sciences organization, as well as the broader Sales teams, to explore areas of opportunity for Data Science in Advertising
  • Assist with the development of best-in-class data products to support Disney Advertising Sales
  • Lead a project tailored to your interests and experience in close collaboration with a mentor to learn how production-grade data processes are developed at scale
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the Data Science Engineering team while developing a deeper, first-hand understanding of how the Advertising Sales business intersects with Disney Entertainment and ESPN
