Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary Agile development teams, preferably in a product company
  • Banking, payments, and SaaS experience is a plus
  • High energy team player, always constructive
  • Passionate about software development and delivery

Responsibilities

  • Lead a best-in-class, cross-functional team of software engineers
  • Define and promote the team's ways of working, hiring, and training strategies
  • Ensure a balanced development team that delivers on promises
  • Set up the team for high performance with a clear product plan
  • Deliver software meeting customer expectations, including non-functionals like security, performance, maintainability, reliability
  • Drive the team to get feedback from stakeholders across Backbase and take action where needed
  • Help the team set strategic direction and facilitate reaching goals
  • Lead up to three development teams within R&D organization
  • Work with value stream leadership, product managers, domain architects, and stakeholders to deliver products
  • Foster an environment for improving soft and strong engineering skills
  • Create conditions for teams to deliver high-quality features
  • Manage setup, competences, and energized team dynamics aligned with Backbase values
  • Surface and solve anti-patterns or dysfunctions impacting performance
  • Own delivery commitments and ensure promised delivery
  • Keep key technology stakeholders involved and informed
  • Protect and support team to meet quality standards
  • Advocate Lean Agile Development Principles with Product Owners for realistic commitments
  • Ensure software is released with minimal effort and no production issues
  • Balance software development lifecycle aspects: non-functionals, automated releases, quality, coding standards, automation, integration testing, release validation, security, infrastructure, product domain details
  • Build strong craftsmanship and effective processes to optimize quality, predictability, and output
  • Promote decompressing, social cohesion, and celebrating milestones at individual and team levels
