Ashby is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to build and lead a high-performing engineering team in Europe. Requirements

  • Experience as an Engineering Manager
  • Strong understanding of individual performance management
  • Ability to foster a culture of ownership and empowerment
  • Experience with software development processes
  • Hands-on engineering skills (willingness to debug, contribute to code, and stay current with the codebase)
  • Comfortable working with a team of 6 or fewer direct reports (for junior EMs)

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a team of engineers in Europe.
  • Focus on individual performance, skills development, and team growth.
  • Create an environment that empowers engineers to take ownership of projects.
  • Provide feedback on product and technical specifications to guide engineers.
  • Help engineers grow to the point where they can independently deliver large, loosely defined projects.
  • Participate in hands-on engineering tasks, such as debugging, bug fixes, and improving the developer experience.
  • Contribute to projects like improving data generation and simulation in demo accounts.
  • Observe, correct, praise, and code alongside team members (particularly junior EMs).
