Engineering Manager, Adoption Team

Position Overview

Virta Health is dedicated to transforming type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care. We are seeking a strong Engineering Manager to lead the Adoption team. This team combines AI innovations with human judgment from coaches and clinicians to support members as they begin their Virta journey. Responsibilities

People Management & Team Dynamics

• Mentor, guide, and support team members.
• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.

Career Development & Growth

• Create individualized development plans for team members.
• Identify and facilitate training, workshops, and other growth opportunities.
• Recognize and reward outstanding performance.
• Provide regular performance feedback.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Communication

• Bridge communication between the engineering team and other departments.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, AI, and analytics functions.
• Work with various stakeholder groups.
• Advocate for the team's needs to ensure success.

Process Management & Improvement

• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes.
• Utilize feedback, retrospectives, iteration, best practices, and prior experience.
• Refine team methodology to balance team needs and company goals.

Technical Strategy & Decision-making

• Ensure key technical decisions align with business objectives and broader technical strategy.
• Inform and support individual team members' technical growth.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams.
• Proven ability to deliver value to end users and internal stakeholders.
• Experience defining and tracking engineering metrics to quantify team health.
• Ability to understand business metrics (KPI, OKR) and contextualize them for the team.
• Experience building collaborative, high-performing teams in a remote environment.

Bonus Points For…

• Experience delivering impactful Gen AI features.
• Experience building and delivering multi-platform applications in React Native or similar.
• Experience with Go or Python, Monolith-to-microservices patterns, event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity working in a regulated industry, particularly healthcare.
