Requirements

  • Current university student pursuing a degree suitable for electronics engineering (undergraduate level)
  • Interest or basic knowledge in electronics design, including detailed circuit design, analogue and digital circuit test techniques, analysis and characterisation techniques
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in labs (Stevenage site)
  • Availability for 10 or 12 week summer placement starting June 2024
  • Preferably 2+ summer industrial placements for IET Eng Tech registration eligibility (not mandatory)

Responsibilities

  • Work with a small team of undergraduate summer placement students to plan, manage, design, and deliver a missile-related electronics project
  • Spend time in the lab building experimental hardware
  • Use schematic design tool (Zuken) for electronics design
  • Potentially write software and firmware
  • Potentially use modelling & simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink
  • Develop skills in manufacturing (machining, PCB manufacture, circuit card assembly), test & evaluation of design
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers from multiple fields (mechanical, test systems, software, etc.)
  • Work independently, in focused electronics teams, and in dynamic multi-disciplinary teams
  • Occasionally travel to other MBDA sites
