Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as an electrical technician, wire harness fabricator, or similar hands-on role in aerospace, motorsport, industrial automation, or related industries
  • Strong ability to read and work from electrical schematics and harness drawings
  • Demonstrated skill in hand-building wire harnesses, looms, and cable assemblies
  • Proficiency with soldering, crimping, and connector assembly (including circular, D-sub, and RF connectors)
  • Comfortable with electrical test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, continuity testers, logic analyzers, and signal generators
  • Solid understanding of grounding, shielding, and cable routing best practices
  • Familiarity with high-reliability workmanship standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent)
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume production environments
  • Prior work in motorsport, aerospace, or satellite hardware environments
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations in harness design and routing
  • Experience with harness design software or CAD-based cable routing tools
  • Comfortable integrating and testing systems with embedded electronics, motion control, and sensors
  • A love of astronomy, physics, and science

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, route, and install complex wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for telescopes and observatory systems
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings
  • Perform panel wiring, grounding, and termination work to a high standard of reliability
  • Conduct electrical checkout, functional testing, and validation of assembled systems
  • Diagnose wiring, signal integrity, and connection issues using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other test equipment
  • Perform soldering (through-hole and surface mount), crimping, staking, splicing, and strain relief
  • Apply harnessing best practices including shielding, impedance control, and vibration mitigation
  • Maintain meticulous workmanship, consistent with aerospace and high-performance motorsport wiring standards
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to support prototyping, integration, and troubleshooting
