Requirements

Expertise in environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) regulations at federal, state, and local levels
Broad technical knowledge in safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, and environmental compliance
Ability to serve as subject matter expert on safety, compliance, and insurance requirements
Hands-on experience planning, directing, developing, and implementing EH&S systems
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work closely with teams across the organization, including R&D and Operations
Commitment to fostering a safety culture

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor programs and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Assist in maintaining necessary permits, licenses, and certifications related to hazardous materials, waste management, air quality, and other environmental aspects
Stay up to date with regulatory changes and update company policies accordingly
Perform regular safety audits and hazard assessments throughout the facility, report results, and follow up to correct discrepancies
Assist in communicating hazard control information and evaluating the effectiveness of controls
Develop and implement mitigation strategies to reduce risks
Collaborate with R&D and Operations teams to design and implement safety controls
Develop training materials for EH&S topics, including new hire orientation, SDS utilization, LOTO, Hot Work, emergency procedures, and workplace safety
Work with facilities coordinator to ensure completion of safety and compliance responsibilities (audits, following safety rules, required training, etc.)
Actively engage employees to foster a safety culture across the company
Investigate all incidents
