Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science – Engineering
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • DFSS: Green Belt (required), Black Belt (required)
  • Extensive experience within Component/Subsystem design and development (SMT) and/or Interior Integration with demonstrated levels of outstanding performance, communication, organizational & planning capabilities
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate others
  • Demonstrated people leader skills to lead and develop team members
  • Cross-functional communication skills of complex issues to enable world class designs, packaging efficiency and vehicle integration, within and across SMTs
  • Demonstrated ability of “dealing with ambiguity” to enable timely decision making
  • Demonstrated highly successful collaboration, teamwork and critical issue resolution working with GM’s global engineering teams, and with China Joint Venture (SGM/PATAC)
  • Demonstrated capability to balance diverse regional requirements on a Global program
  • Ability to manage a multitude of assignments with high levels of composure and effective implementation

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Hard Trim and Overhead Systems DRE's on vehicle programs to enable successful GVDP deliverables with process discipline and excellence
  • Lead design reviews and ensure that design solutions are technically correct and compliant to BOM Row strategies
  • Drive outstanding quality and global “read across” leveraging DFMEA's, Peer Reviews and DFSS methodology
  • Establish an analytical base for the product designs/executions to guide robustness engineering
  • Collaborate with the Hard Trim and Overhead Systems Engineering Technical Lead (ETL), Tech Specialists (TS), other Interior EGMs and SMT Leadership, Design Studio, Vehicle Architecture, Manufacturing, and the Program Teams to ensure key program deliverables are met
  • Work closely with Interior SMT, Safety Integration, Supplier Quality and Purchasing Leadership to leverage strategic suppliers and implement new technologies on GM product programs
  • Eliminate structural waste by supporting the SMT initiatives like CAE driven designs, Pull Ahead Production Tooling, Strategic Tooling Initiative, Virtual by 2025, etc
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors & coaching skills. Establish and execute employee career development plans
  • Lead knowledge management and improve the operational system
  • Travel as required during execution and launch phases of program
