Requirements

  • British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship
  • Ability to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS)
  • Driven and experienced engineer
  • Understanding of Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) systems or similar advanced technology
  • Understanding of how sub-systems (e.g., Command and Control Processing Unit, console, racks) work, including hardware, physical certification, and software aspects
  • Understanding of Unit Production Cost (UPC) for equipment
  • Understanding of sub-contractor management (internal and external)
  • Understanding of key activities in the engineering development lifecycle (e.g., design reviews such as PDR/DDR/CDR)
  • Ability to work within a multi-discipline engineering team (e.g., Systems, mechanical, electrical, software)
  • Preparedness for dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Technical Requirement Specification (TRS) of the equipment
  • Capture transversal engineering stakeholder needs (e.g., Safety, Cyber, Human Factors, Customer Support Services)
  • Understand the ability to trade requirements for cost and schedule
  • Develop and understand interface specifications
  • Manage technical interface with the Equipment Design Authority, including acceptance of the equipment delivery
  • Support equipment integration at the system level
  • Manage the Statement of Work (SOW) of the equipment
  • Lead the technical progress meetings and milestone reviews with the supplier
  • Manage schedule, cost, quality, and performance metrics for assigned work packages
  • Understand and contribute to limiting technical risks
  • Coordinate work packages for internal and external suppliers to develop products, ensuring cost, deadlines, and technical choices align with specifications
  • Focus on hardware delivery and physical certification aspects of the Command and Control Processing Unit (C2PU), console, and racks
  • Ensure consistency of weapon system equipment with system performance and project commitments
