Responsibilities
Oversee development and implementation of advanced technology innovation initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of Operational and Engineering activities
Oversee engineering activities for a robust telecommunications system (wired and wireless) for mission-critical voice and data transmission
Direct a team of engineers experienced in data analytics and automation, using AI/ML tools (e.g., image recognition) for asset management, substation design, protection and control engineering, and field data collection
Guide telecommunications engineers in designing and implementing projects to maintain and expand private radio and fiber networks
Oversee automation engineers ensuring field telemetry accuracy in SCADA systems for electric transmission/distribution and gas operations
Coordinate activities across the Company with IT, field communications, system operations, engineering disciplines, field operations, and emergency preparedness
Engage with external counterparts and stakeholders to leverage and contribute to industry best practices in telecommunications engineering and operational technology
Lead rigorous analysis to initiate and scale new operational technology initiatives focused on automation, data analysis, and engineering insights for efficiency, rigor, and cost-effectiveness in engineering and field operations
Ensure the operational technology portfolio responds to industry developments, maximizes value, and captures new opportunities
Oversee implementation and optimization of operational technology projects, managing power systems data scientists with electrical engineering knowledge, in collaboration with IT and Engineering
Direct efforts to plan and implement the Company’s fiber network strategy for critical facilities (transmission/distribution substations, Eversource and third-party assets)
Implement substation connectivity roadmap, including use of IP-based technologies
