Position Overview

Humana is seeking an accomplished leader for the role of Director, Strategic Advancement in Membership and Plan Services. This high-impact leader will play a pivotal role in supporting the Sr. Leader in the development, implementation, and execution of the company's strategic goals and operational initiatives. Employing strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of strategic and operational expertise, a sense of urgency, and the ability to create consensus across the highest level of leadership, this leader will play a critical role in advancing our business through leading a portfolio of strategic and operational initiatives.

This role is a strategic position that will help shape the direction of the Leadership Team while ensuring we deliver operational discipline and efficiency. This position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills, who will lead a team of 3-5 direct reports (Associate Director and Lead) with 10-15 associates (Professional Level) to help deliver this critical work.

Reporting to the VP, Membership and Plan Services, they will serve as a trusted advisor and will be responsible for multi-year strategic and portfolio planning and operational readiness as we transform our technology and business operations. This leader must be a strong enterprise collaborator who works to provide effective and innovative solutions for top organizational and business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Work side-by-side with the Vice President and leadership team to ensure that the organization is meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Collaborate with executive team members to determine and prioritize business strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to develop and drive large-scale strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment on key initiatives and remove roadblocks.
  • Champion the 5-year strategic plan for Membership and Plan Services and drive accountability within the segment by collaborating with functional leaders and enterprise partners.
  • Ensure portfolio and investments align with the overall business strategy and maximize value by prioritizing investments, measuring, and tracking value.
  • Responsible for reporting and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) cadences for tracking progress of Portfolio KPIs, Status, and alignment to overall objectives through Monthly Business Reviews.
  • Drive monthly, quarterly, and yearly investment planning and opportunity assessment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization with the goal of advancing the leader’s vision and agenda.
  • Assess the impact of changes, mitigate risks, and facilitate employee adaptation.
  • Act as an extension of the MPS Leader in meetings, decision-making processes, and daily operations.
  • Ensure successful Annual Enrollment Period by developing and facilitating training for New Hires and Short-Term staffing.
  • Leverage data analytics to drive business insights, reporting, and leadership communications.
  • Advise leadership of functional strategies while exercising independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Assist in determining key performance indicators and how to measure team performance.
  • Exercise independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and work under minimal supervision.
  • Use independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of strategic planning experience
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • 1+ years of experience with organizational change management
  • Strategic thinker and customer-obsessed with the ability to balance divergent needs and priorities in a complex organization.
