Requirements

Candidates should possess over 10 years of software development experience, with a minimum of 3-5 years in engineering leadership roles, demonstrating proven success in managing and scaling multiple engineering pods and/or other managers. Deep experience in search infrastructure, information retrieval, or ML/NLP applications is required, along with technical fluency in building and optimizing large-scale distributed systems and familiarity with semantic search, vector embeddings, hybrid search strategies, or LLM-enhanced search. Excellent communication skills are also essential.

Responsibilities

The Director of Software Development will lead and grow multiple engineering pods, foster an inclusive engineering culture, and mentor engineering leaders. They will drive the architecture and evolution of the company's content retrieval and hybrid search platform, partnering with Data and ML teams to integrate advanced search capabilities. Responsibilities include overseeing planning, prioritization, and execution across pods, collaborating with Product and Design partners, championing high-quality engineering practices, leading incident response, and exploring innovative ML techniques to improve search quality.
