Requirements

Experience in risk management, preferably in a broker-dealer or financial services environment
Experience developing and maintaining Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
Experience performing independent reviews and stress testing
Experience designing policies and control frameworks
Experience assessing new products or business changes
Experience providing 2nd line of defense challenge to front-office risk management
Experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and internal testing programs
Experience with due diligence related to onboarding and offboarding of correspondents/partner firms
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

Partner with the COO, CCO, and brokerage leadership team to develop and drive processes for risk oversight and quality control
Implement risk monitoring and establish key risk indicators
Set up a framework to identify issues posing a risk to the firm
Ensure issues are properly risk-rated and prioritized
Work closely with Product, Product Ops, and Engineering teams to address issues
Report on issue progress to Alpaca leadership on a monthly basis
Develop, maintain, and adapt Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
Perform independent reviews and stress testing
Design policies and control frameworks
Assess new products or business changes
Provide 2nd line of defense challenge to front-office risk management
Identify and manage risks to the organization, its employees, stakeholders, assets, and operations
Develop risk management strategies, objectives, and policies
Be the primary owner for Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and internal testing program
Be the primary owner for due diligence related to onboarding and offboarding of correspondents/partner firms
Research incidents and issues and document from identification to resolution
Recommend and implement changes to firm policies and procedures
Provide guidance and training to promote risk control awareness, ownership, and accountability
Monitor and analyze risks within the business units
Effectively provide reports to the Firm’s Risk and Control
