Candidates should possess rabbinic ordination and/or an advanced degree in Jewish studies, education, or a related field, demonstrating success in Jewish educational settings with learners at a range of levels, including first-time learners and those new to Jewish texts.
The Director of Learning will serve as Hillel’s lead educator, modeling and cultivating deep engagement with Torah in text-based and discussion-based formats, developing and leading learning opportunities for students at all levels of experience, building sustained relationships with students, faculty, and staff through learning and conversation, leading and supporting cohort-based learning communities, and being a regular presence at Shabbat and holiday programming. They will also serve as Hillel’s main connector to academic departments, campus offices, and external organizations for collaborative educational initiatives, providing strategic leadership in coordinating visiting educators, representing Hillel in university-wide conversations, and contributing to a culture of mission-first teamwork.

Hillel International serves Jewish college students by providing educational and cultural programming, scholarships, and fellowships. The organization focuses on enriching the lives of approximately 160,000 Jewish students annually, helping them connect with their heritage and fostering a strong sense of community and identity. Hillel's programs include the Azrieli Fellows Program for postdoctoral research in Israel and the Bernard B. and Mary L. Brusin Scholarship Fund for students from Duluth high schools. Unlike other organizations, Hillel emphasizes inclusivity and leadership development, creating a welcoming environment for students to explore their Jewish identity.
