Requirements

Candidates should possess at least 6 years of engineering leadership experience, including over 3 years managing managers or multiple engineering teams. A strong architectural understanding of billing and usage platforms, backend services, and cloud-native infrastructure is essential. Experience in defining monetization strategies, modeling business impacts on ARR, NRR, and ACV, and operating a usage-based billing model at scale is required. Familiarity with third-party billing platforms like Orb and Stripe for various billing functions is necessary. Demonstrated success in scaling teams through company growth phases, strong analytical skills for tracking and driving metrics, and excellent communication abilities with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are crucial. A thoughtful and empathetic leadership approach is also expected, with prior experience in a product-led SaaS or DevTools company being a plus.

Responsibilities

This includes translating technical concepts to go-to-market partners, engaging in strategic business discussions around pricing and monetization, and representing the engineering team effectively. The role involves making engineering decisions that impact revenue and business strategy, informing planning and prioritization with SaaS business metrics. Additionally, the Director will manage and mentor senior leaders, cultivate high-performing and inclusive teams, and scale the organization. Owning the hiring strategy, including diversity and inclusion initiatives, and modeling principled values such as transparency, ownership, curiosity, and a bias for action are key responsibilities.
