Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading teams in high-growth environments
Deep technical expertise and a track record of shipping impactful products to build scalable, reliable systems
Experience building and scaling engineering teams and supporting them to do their best work
Excellent communication skills to provide clarity in times of uncertainty or change
Pragmatic decision maker with history of delivering products in startups, comfortable with shifting priorities, tradeoffs in scope, technical debt, and tight timelines
Highly customer focused

Responsibilities

Lead and scale the product engineering organization as it doubles and triples in size, including attracting, hiring, and developing exceptional engineers and leaders
Own the growth and performance of the engineering team, ensuring clarity, coaching, and support for high-impact work
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement that empowers teams to take smart risks, experiment, and build groundbreaking solutions
Refine the playbook for high-velocity development, evolving engineering practices to eliminate friction, raise quality, and enable fast, reliable delivery
Align engineering with Relay’s mission by partnering with Product, Design, and business leaders to translate strategy into a unified roadmap and make prioritization decisions
Drive alignment and delivery across multiple teams, establishing systems, rituals, and processes for effective and sustainable execution
Partner across the company to build scalable infrastructure, processes, and culture
Partner with the VP of Engineering to forge the next generation of leaders and align engineering efforts with strategic product vision
