Requirements

  • Experience leading electrical development for tightly packaged, mechanically constrained products, balancing thermal, structural, and electrical needs
  • Proficiency in defining electrical architectures and channelization strategies for power, signal, and data distribution across airborne and simulation systems
  • Oversight experience in schematic design, PCB layout (rigid, flex, rigid-flex), bring-up, validation, and environmental qualification (EMI/EMC, vibration, DO-160)
  • Knowledge of compliance with relevant aerospace and military standards (e.g., DO-160)
  • Ability to lead technical reviews, risk assessments (FMEA, FTA), and trade studies for reliability and manufacturability
  • Experience evaluating and implementing new tools, workflows, and technologies for efficiency, quality, and design throughput
  • Thrives in fast-paced, mission-driven environments with a passion for building world-class, ruggedized electronics for aerospace applications
  • Hands-on leadership skills for growing and mentoring electrical engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the electrical engineering strategy aligned with Red 6’s product and technology roadmaps
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing electrical engineering team
  • Foster a product-forward culture prioritizing integration, manufacturability, and performance
  • Encourage engineers to engage deeply with product intent for fast, iterative collaboration with mechanical and systems teams
  • Partner with VP of Engineering, CTO, and cross-functional leads (Systems, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing) for cohesive product integration
  • Drive standardization of design processes, documentation, and testing frameworks
  • Forecast and manage resources, budgets, and project priorities for the electrical function
  • Provide architectural and design guidance for complex mixed-signal, high-speed digital, and power systems
  • Lead electrical development for tightly packaged products, balancing thermal, structural, and electrical needs with Mechanical Engineering
  • Champion rapid design iteration and co-design between electrical and mechanical domains for optimal integration and manufacturability
  • Oversee schematic design, PCB layout, bring-up, validation, and environmental qualification
  • Establish and enforce compliance with aerospace and military standards
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering to derive electrical requirements from system specifications
  • Lead technical reviews, risk assessments (FMEA, FTA), and trade studies
  • Evaluate and implement new tools, workflows, and technologies
  • Partner with systems, mechanical, and software teams for seamless integration and validation
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain for design transition to production
  • Support supplier qualification, component selection, and DFM/DFT processes
  • Represent electrical engineering in design reviews, customer briefings, and external discussions
  • Interface with suppliers and partners for COTS components, subcontracted design, and program compliance
