Requirements

  • Thrives as a player-coach: hands-on with data engineering and analytics (e.g., designing data architecture, writing dbt models)
  • Experience setting strategic direction and building/leading a small high-performing team of data professionals
  • Technical expertise in modern data architecture, scalable data pipelines, data modeling, dbt testing, and data contracts
  • Ability to lead technical deep-dives, resolve complex data issues, and drive continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, regulatory compliance, and incident response/root cause analysis
  • Experience overseeing business systems like NetSuite, Salesforce, Hubspot, billing systems, Snowflake, and dbt
  • Ability to partner with Product, Engineering, FinOps, GTM leadership, and report to CFO

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive data strategy for capturing, storing, and utilizing data across product, marketing, operations, and finance (50% time)
  • Design and implement modern, scalable data pipelines that enable reliable insights
  • Redesign core data models to support new product launches and evolving business complexity
  • Establish and enforce data contracts to prevent unexpected schema changes and downstream failures
  • Lead technical deep-dives to resolve complex data issues and drive continuous improvement
  • Build robust data governance frameworks including policies, standards, ownership models, and change management processes
  • Implement comprehensive dbt testing strategy with focus on data contract validation and primary key uniqueness
  • Collaborate with security teams to establish controls around data access, usage, privacy, and regulatory compliance
  • Drive incident response and root cause analysis for data quality issues
  • Oversee selection, implementation, and optimization of core business systems (NetSuite, Salesforce, Hubspot, billing systems) to maximize efficiency and ROI
  • Own strategic roadmap for data warehouse (Snowflake), transformation layer (dbt), and analytics platform
