Requirements

  • Enjoy building and developing private brand design strategy and execution, supporting long-term business plans and executing prioritized strategic programs
  • Understand and know how to build a winning brand aesthetic and DNA/guardrails
  • Data savvy: able to analyze competition, customer behavior, industry trends, and the macro environment
  • Omni-channel customer-focused: able to develop and execute a strategic vision with a customer-centric approach, understanding customer behavior across channels or within relevant channels

Responsibilities

  • Create designs exclusively for Private Brands and develop trend strategies that support Walmart Apparel Strategic Business Unit (SBU) merchandising goals
  • Assure Walmart’s private brand DNA/guidelines, trends, aesthetic/style, quality, and value support customer needs and lead the market
  • Set the brand’s seasonal fashion direction and align with broader Walmart strategies
  • Ensure merchant leadership is aligned with the creative direction and assortment
  • Oversee all aspects of the brand including brand management, design, merchandising analytics, and storytelling
  • Lead the design vision, execution, and identity of each brand, ensuring merchant strategy and brand guidelines are followed for consistent design aesthetic on the floor and online
  • Be the key decision maker on brand’s aesthetic, design, silhouettes, and fabrics/materials
  • Translate the vision into a product by utilizing appropriate materials and a supply base to execute the collection
  • Collaborate and partner with Product Development and Sourcing teams on supplier matrix, direct imports, competitive pricing, and supplier/factory relationships
  • Partner with marketing and brand services teams to ensure cohesive brand vision is executed through packaging and promotional materials
  • Understand the competitive landscape of the brand portfolio, determine competitive advantages, and develop a winning strategy
  • Develop and adapt to the ever-changing omni retail environment, offering new experiences to increase market and customer wallet share, as well as customer retention
  • Partner with other Senior Leaders to ensure brand collections and strategy align with other business unit strategies (e.g., Operations, Replenishment, Marketing)
  • Collaborate with omni Merchandising Operations teams to achieve Omni SBU Merchandising objectives efficiently and effectively
  • In partnership with People Partner, develop a transformative talent strategy for Teams, identifying skills, experiences, and competencies needed to transform the Design Team and establish it as an industry leader
  • Enable associate development and career growth while maintaining a High-Performance Culture
  • Deliver world-class Walmart exclusive brand experiences across all channels (e.g., Walmart stores, Walmart.com) by offering private label collections of high-quality, high-value products, providing a positive customer experience
