Requirements

  • Ability to lead strategic and operational management of environmental programs across a three-state territory (CT, MA, NH)
  • Expertise in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Experience overseeing permitting processes, audits, reporting (e.g., air reporting for methane, SF6), and TSCA/PCB issues
  • Knowledge of managing environmental site remediation, including contaminated sites, MGP sites, PTC releases, oil-filled equipment, building demolition/decontamination
  • Proficiency in managing consultants, contractors, budgets, and coordination with legal/regulatory agencies for site closure and real estate due diligence
  • Capability to develop and direct environmental emergency response, spill response, on-call rotations, storm preparedness, and asbestos compliance
  • Skills in monitoring regulatory changes, advising leadership, and developing environmental policies/procedures supporting sustainability
  • Experience representing company in regulatory, community, and industry forums; decision-making on budgets, program implementation, negotiations, regulatory interpretation
  • Strong internal/external communication on initiatives and compliance
  • No need for immigration sponsorship; ability to work hybrid schedule (at least 3 days in office, up to 5 as needed)

Responsibilities

  • Manage a group of approximately 35 environmental professionals across Environmental Compliance, Environmental Remediation, and Environmental Field Response (including emergency response)
  • Ensure company-wide compliance with environmental laws/regulations; oversee permitting, audits, reporting
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise leadership on implications/strategies
  • Manage TSCA/PCB issues and collaborate with other company areas for regulatory compliance at facilities
  • Lead investigation/remediation of contaminated sites (legacy/active facilities, MGP, PTC, oil releases); manage consultants/contractors/budgets
  • Coordinate with legal/regulatory agencies for site closure/documentation; support environmental real estate due diligence
  • Develop/maintain environmental emergency response/on-call rotations; direct spill response and storm event preparedness
  • Lead response to environmental incidents (spills, releases, storms); coordinate asbestos compliance
  • Advise senior leadership on environmental risks/opportunities; develop/implement policies/procedures supporting sustainability
  • Represent company in regulatory/community/industry forums; make decisions on budgets/programs/negotiations/regulatory interfacing
  • Communicate internally/externally on company initiatives/compliance priorities
