  • Basic Qualifications
  • At least 8 years experience conducting qualitative or quantitative user experience research
  • At least 6 years of professional experience conducting user experience research in a corporate environment
  • At least 6 years of experience conducting data analysis (such as: survey data, behavioral analytics)
  • At least 3 years managing user experience research teams
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 10 years experience conducting qualitative or quantitative user experience research in large, matrixed organizations
  • At least 8 years managing UX research teams
  • Experience managing managers
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence senior executives
  • Experience with performance management and career coaching
  • Experience attracting and hiring top talent
  • Knowledge with any of the following subjects: Human Factors, User Experience Design, Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Information Architecture, Systems Architecture, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to articulate learning needs, learning agendas, and research roadmaps
  • Track research questions and insights across Card product areas
  • Understand each product area’s strategy and needs to identify and prioritize research activities including primary research, knowledge mapping, assessments, and testing
  • Maintain close relationships with research leader peers across Capital One to identify opportunities to re-use learnings and collaborate on research serving multiple lines of business
  • Establish direction and expectations for design research practice across the line of business
  • Seek out novel methods and technologies to accelerate learning velocity
  • Enable and support democratized research activities
  • Develop deep expertise in customers’ needs and business solutions to proactively identify research opportunities delivering meaningful, actionable insights
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with leaders of business, product, design, and engineering
  • Leverage existing data and lead high impact programs that enable business outcomes
  • Evaluate diverse perspectives, data-driven insights, and customer & business needs to accelerate learning, inform decisions, and influence product experience & portfolio direction
  • Establish standard research practices, high quality insights, and team talent development
  • Identify highest-leverage opportunities, prioritize effectively, and negotiate needs with executive leaders and diverse stakeholders
  • Connect teams, portfolios, platforms, and LOBs to drive coherent experiences, accelerate learning, and elevate research value
  • Present work across levels and job functions, modeling a strategic human-centered approach to make complex topics accessible, influence executives, and achieve impactful results
