Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, engineering; CPA required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in biotech or life sciences
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting
  • Experience in a pre-IPO or high-growth startup environment preferred
  • Familiarity with FP&A processes and financial modeling
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Quickbooks, NetSuite)

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed assets
  • Develop and implement scalable accounting policies, procedures, and systems appropriate for a pre-IPO biotech company
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and manage external audits
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes across departments
  • Partner with R&D, G&A, and other functional leaders to develop and monitor operating budgets
  • Prepare financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making
  • Assist in cash flow planning and long-range financial planning
  • Contribute to board and investor reporting packages with financial insights and variance analysis
  • Collaborate with Legal, HR, and Lab Operations to ensure financial integrity across the organization
  • Support fundraising activities, investor reporting, and IPO readiness
  • Manage and mentor a growing accounting and finance team
