Requirements

Leadership experience in managing global teams of data scientists, engineers, and algorithm specialists (12+ members, including full-time, contractors, and offshore in Europe and US)
Expertise in AI, algorithms, software development, and product architecture supporting advanced AI solutions
Strategic visioning and roadmap development skills, aligned with organizational purpose, behaviors, and mission
Ability to hire strategically for current and future needs and build organizational competencies
Cross-functional collaboration experience within R&D, across divisions, and with external partners
Knowledge of latest AI advancements for efficiency, optimizations, bioinformatics, large data analytics, and customer-facing solutions
Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, emerging risks, and input to designs/standards
Proven track record in driving high-achieving teams to execute projects, overcome obstacles, and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

Lead a global organization of 12+ data scientists, engineers, and algorithm specialists responsible for algorithm development, AI projects, and product architecture
Create the vision and strategic direction, ensuring alignment with ID purpose, behaviors, and mission
Drive cost optimization by leveraging offshore engineers and owning relationships with offshore partners
Build and grow organizational competencies for near-term and long-range roadmaps; hire strategically
Define and lead the AI Innovation strategy, roadmap, and R&D team for leading-edge products and solutions
Leverage AI for tools/solutions that optimize R&D efficiency, generate project documentation, bioinformatics, data analytics, accelerate timelines, and enable platform architectures
Develop customer-facing AI solutions for new revenue streams and extend ID AI solutions across Abbott
Ensure robust cybersecurity framework for all AI solutions and provide input on risks, objectives, designs, and standards
Drive long-term organizational effectiveness as a high-achieving, multi-disciplined team committed to execution and deadlines
Own and drive major software projects tied to corporate initiatives
