Requirements

Candidates should possess 8+ years of experience in engineering roles with deep expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Computer Vision. They should have a proven track record of building 0 → 1 products or technical breakthroughs that have been successfully launched into the market, alongside strong hands-on skills in ML frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow, video analytics using OpenCV, and deployment tooling like ONNX and Triton. Furthermore, candidates should be comfortable leading and scaling small engineering teams and demonstrate a 'hacker energy' characterized by creativity, resourcefulness, and a rapid iteration process. Experience creating data pipelines for categorizing large video datasets is also desired.

Responsibilities

As the Head of R&D, the individual will lead and manage a team of engineers to prototype and productize computer vision and AI systems, personally building and owning early-stage proofs-of-concept and rapidly iterating based on real-world validation. They will define and prioritize the technical R&D roadmap in collaboration with product and business leads, architect scalable systems that transition from lab to production, vet new models and data architectures, and serve as a key thought partner in setting technical direction for new product lines. The role also encompasses guiding the evolution of theft detection products used by thousands of stores and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the company.
