Requirements

  • Knowledge of CAD software
  • Familiarity with plants or desire to learn
  • Familiarity with local zoning codes, setback requirements, grading and drainage regulations, tree ordinances, and related construction permitting standards
  • A degree in Landscape Design, Horticulture or a related field is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle; occasional travel to sites and vendors as required

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed plans, drawings, and presentations by hand or using CAD and other design software
  • Select appropriate plants, trees, and materials based on climate, soil conditions, and aesthetic preferences
  • Make design adjustments as needed to accommodate client feedback or site-specific considerations
  • Act as the first-level ordinance interpreter, reviewing local regulations and zoning requirements to ensure designs are prepared for successful permit approval, and work closely with the Permit Coordinator to streamline the approval process
  • Support communication between clients, designers, project managers, construction, and maintenance teams to maintain design integrity through implementation
  • Coordinate with landscape architects, contractors, and vendors to source materials and resolve design or site challenges
  • Track project timelines, deliverables, and approvals to help ensure deadlines are met
  • Attend site visits and assist in documenting project progress and as-built conditions on an as-needed basis
  • Organize design files, drawings, and materials for efficient workflow and team access
  • Maintain the design library, plant database, and sample inventory
  • Assist in scheduling client meetings, design reviews, and studio activities
  • Support the production of presentation boards, concept packages, and printed deliverables
  • Write proposals
  • Maintain the design studio’s inventory, ensuring all supplies, materials, and resources are available and organized to support smooth workflow and project execution
  • Perform additional administrative tasks and support functions as needed
