Experienced Communications professional with proven experience managing high-profile communications campaigns
Strong track-record of delivering positive, ‘on message’ coverage across a broad range of international media outlets
Passion for art history and keen understanding of the art market
Aptitude for writing (often to tight deadlines)
Keen instinct for what makes something newsworthy
Ability to identify and manage potentially sensitive issues
Ability to think outside the box, creating compelling PR campaigns and positioning Sotheby’s in an interesting, consistent, and creative way
Ability to analyse and interpret numerical data to report on auction data
Strong relationships with key editors, writers, and influencers in the UK and ideally Italy, the US, and Asia

Responsibilities

Lead PR campaigns for Sotheby’s Contemporary sales in the UK and provide support for Contemporary sales worldwide (particularly Hong Kong, New York, and Milan)
Play a key role in campaigns for key single owner sales in the UK and internationally (pending workflow)
Lead and execute PR campaigns for all Sotheby’s sales in Italy, working closely with the local team to ensure impactful media strategies, securing profile-raising opportunities, and keeping them informed of key regional news
Work closely with Sotheby’s specialists and press office colleagues in London and globally to devise and execute effective, creative campaigns promoting individual works, entire sales, exhibitions, new initiatives, and related activities
Prepare compelling, clear, and well-written materials including press releases, pitches to journalists, internal memos, Q&As, messaging and briefing documents, texts for proposals, interview answers, and other materials
Constant interaction with journalists from a wide range of media
