Requirements

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in data management, governance, business analysis, or a related role. Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, and metadata management principles is required, along with familiarity with data management tools like Databricks, Jupyter Notebooks, or OpenMetadata. Understanding of data models, relational databases, data warehousing concepts, master data management (MDM), data catalogs, or policy-as-code approaches is necessary. Knowledge of compliance frameworks including HIPAA, NIST, CMMC, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) is essential. An analytical and detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills is expected. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States, and certain roles may require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a federal background investigation and/or security clearance.

Responsibilities

The Data Steward will implement and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures, serving as the point of contact for assigned data domains and ensuring compliance with frameworks like HIPAA, NIST, CMMC, and RMF. They will define and maintain data definitions, business rules, and metadata, monitor and report on data quality metrics, and drive remediation efforts. Responsibilities include partnering with business and IT teams to resolve data quality and integrity problems, collaborating with data owners, custodians, and users for consistent data usage, and educating business teams on data standards and governance practices. The role also involves maintaining and updating entries in the enterprise data catalog, including lineage and ownership, and supporting cross-functional projects involving data migration, integration, and analytics, as well as providing documentation and metadata for audits and reporting.
