Job Description Summary

The Data Analyst manages processes for global identifier (GID) maintenance and product categorization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with management to develop and implement strategies to gain team efficiencies, including workflow optimization, database maintenance, and data cleansing projects.
  • Build, analyze, and distribute reports using SQL, Access, Excel, and Cognos based on requests received from internal groups.
  • Identify, develop and lead data cleansing projects.
  • Maintain team processes in Master Control by updating SOPs and work instructions regularly.
  • Work directly with the Finance team to identify financial trends and fix financial shifts in categories.
  • Take lead to resolve issues, develop solutions and engage other support groups (IT, Finance, Portfolio Management) as needed to solve problems.
  • Work with new locations being added to the global data warehouse.

Candidate Experience, Qualifications and Characteristics

  • Minimum of two years analytical work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and relational database management systems (specifically Excel, Access, and SQL).
  • Ability to analyze data and draw actionable conclusions from analysis.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and demonstrate flexibility with priorities.
  • Should pay close attention to details and lead multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently to develop projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and fixing abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of Thermo Fisher Scientific portfolio and major laboratory supply brands, both internal and external to the company.
  • Proficiency with Cognos, IBS and Mainframe ERPs, and Siebel.
  • Detailed understanding of the channel’s global data structure and general business processes, specifically US, Canada, Europe, and Asia.
