Requirements
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and scheduled shifts, matching Operations Department schedule
- Multi-disciplinary skills: capable of performing operations duties and maintenance duties including electrical, control and instrument, mechanical, welding, and use of machine tools
- Ability to plan, schedule, and perform all aspects of the job independently
- Evidence of personal motivation, initiative, positive attitude, core values, safe work practices, job ownership, and willingness to learn and apply HPI Tools
- Completion of on-site training program within two years of start date
- Membership in IBEW Local 51
- Technical expertise to troubleshoot low voltage electrical circuits
- Technical skills to perform calibrations and maintenance of field instrumentation (e.g., transmitters for level, pressure, flow, temperature; control valves, valve positioners, thermocouples, programmable logic controls, analog/digital distributed control systems, analytical/pneumatic instrumentation, computer programming)
- Knowledge and understanding of power plant processes (e.g., material handling, water side equipment, air side equipment, emission controls, turbine/generator)
- Knowledge of resources such as drawings, instruction books, calibration data sheets
- Ability to learn to communicate LOTO requests to Operations
Responsibilities
- Perform work with strict adherence to safety procedures and best practices; continually observe for safe working practices
- Regularly develop and present safety topics
- Develop understanding of HPI tools through training and practice; actively participate in Pre/Post Job briefs
- Work with other shift technicians to perform routine and emergency maintenance and/or compliance activities on plant instrumentation and control systems
- Assist in Unit start-up and shut-down activities with other shift technicians
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain power plant instrumentation systems and equipment
- Maintain good working relationships with Operations, Electrical, Purchasing, Warehouse personnel, other support groups, and vendors
- Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting low voltage electrical circuits
- Provide technical expertise for calibrations and maintenance of field instrumentation
- Demonstrate specific knowledge and skills to perform job assignments
- Demonstrate continual self-improvement in job skills and knowledge
- Demonstrate knowledge of how job assignments impact other systems/units to maximize safety and minimize equipment problems
- Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of resources required to perform the job (e.g., drawings, instruction books, calibration data sheets)
- Maintain qualifications of the position and develop new skills required by the position
