Responsibilities

  • Independently underwrite and price the most complex and specialized commercial risks within expanded authority levels while promoting a steady flow of lower-premium and complexity new business, applying advanced judgment and technical expertise for profitable growth
  • Perform in-depth risk analysis using financials, loss control reports, industry trends, and predictive data models; provide consultative guidance to field underwriters and agents on risk mitigation and coverage solutions
  • Manage a field underwriting territory focused on new business production, ensuring alignment with underwriting strategy, business mix, and profitability goals; identify trends and recommend adjustments to underwriting approach or appetite; serve as primary point of contact for consolidation or transfer opportunities within an agency
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key agency partners; conduct regular in-person meetings and embed/quote within agency offices; provide expert support in complex negotiations and coverage discussions; participate with Territory Managers in strategic planning to drive mutual success; identify and drive business development and issue resolution opportunities
  • Monitor market developments, emerging risks, and competitor activity; contribute feedback to Portfolio Management and Technical Underwriting to influence underwriting guidelines, tools, and practices
  • Serve as a technical resource and informal mentor to field underwriters; share best practices and support skill development
  • Partner with Territory Managers and Learning & Development to conduct product orientation and training for agents and internal teams; provide feedback on product performance and market fit
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned
  • Drive profitable Small Commercial new business growth for assigned agencies within local geography (IL/WI)
