Requirements

Candidates should possess 5 or more years of experience with highway or bridge construction, a high school diploma or equivalent, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred, but not required. VDOT Materials Certified in highway & bridges, DEQ Dual Inspector; Bridge and Roadway Construction certification, VDOT Soils & Aggregate Compaction, VDOT Asphalt I & II, VDOT Intermediate Work Zone, OSHA-10, HAZMAT/Nuclear Safety, DEQ ESC Inspector, DEQ SWM Inspector, ACI/WACEL Concrete, and VDOT GRIT certifications are required or VA equivalents. Experience with Prolog Construction Management software is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Construction Inspector will review blueprints, monitor construction progress, examine exterior work, utilizing survey instruments to verify completed work, and take photographs while maintaining a log. They will be responsible for compliance of work in the field, performing MOT and E&S reviews, updating project documentation, coordinating with the Senior Project Inspector, identifying and tracking issues, identifying non-conforming work, preparing daily reports, and recommending solutions to field issues. The inspector will directly support the Senior Project Inspector on the project site, monitoring Contractor’s operations and documenting daily activities, coordinating and facilitating all construction activities, providing daily onsite field representation, and offering technical expertise of the products/materials being installed. They will monitor project cleanliness and inspect the GC for compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.
