Requirements

  • Currently studying towards a degree in an Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computing or Applied Science discipline
  • Must have the right to work in the UK (unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visa)
  • As a minimum, must be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
  • Must achieve required medical and national security clearance for the role (including HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks)

Responsibilities

  • Apply university learning to real-world engineering projects and technologies in missile lethality
  • Use bespoke modelling tools (primarily fast running evaluation models in MATLAB) to evaluate and investigate lethal performance of developing and future missile systems against a range of targets
  • Use CAD design software to provide inputs to models
  • Apply understanding of fuzing techniques, warhead technologies, lethal effects, and lethality assessment modelling methods to various missile systems
  • Work on your own or in a small team, with limited supervision, on short tasks (typically a few weeks to a few months)
  • Collaborate with other MBDA departments around Europe on some projects
  • Undertake modelling of missile terminal engagement, target detection, warhead detonation, and lethal performance prediction
