Requirements

5+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred
Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills
Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process
Experience attending and controlling cases (pre-suit, litigated, and post-trial) at mediations, settlement conferences, etc
Property and Casualty licenses required (must be obtained within 6 months)
Motivation for an upwardly mobile career path

Responsibilities

Handle the investigation, evaluation, and disposition of large, complex 3rd party property and casualty claims (e.g., multi-vehicle auto accidents, plant explosions, class action injury claims, catastrophic product liability claims)
Review coverage under Excess Commercial General Liability and auto policies
Participate in claim investigations and control litigation strategy
Direct litigation, attend mediations and trials, assess liability and damages, and recommend reserves
Present large-value cases to senior management
Communicate effectively with insureds, brokers, attorneys, claimants, underwriters, and other stakeholders to provide guidance and manage expectations
Negotiate multimillion-dollar claims with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide, utilizing ADR as appropriate
Document exposure evaluation, resolution strategy, thought process, and financial controls
Prepare and execute investigation strategies identifying critical issues affecting liability, causation, damages, risk transfer, and contribution opportunities
Strategize and budget litigation through discussions with counsel, vendors, and insureds, maintaining financial control of budgets and expenses
