Requirements

High School or GED Equivalent
Certified Flight Communicator - International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists (IAMTCS) within 2 Years or Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) - CommLink within 2 Years
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds
Preferred: EMT or EMD experience
Preferred: Previous experience in medical field
Preferred: General knowledge of codes, ordinances, regulations, geography and public safety procedures
Ability to work rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays

Responsibilities

Receive and coordinate transport requests for Avera Careflight from multiple sources for both ground and air medical transport
Track all air medical and ground transports for Avera Careflight in accordance with FAA Safety and CAMTS accreditation standards
Effectively communicate with air medical crews, requesting and receiving agencies and entities, incoming aircraft, and ground transport service providers through radio, telephone, and pertinent messaging applications
Achieve and maintain a working knowledge of the EMS system and map reading, and follow emergency procedures for aircraft when applicable
Achieve and maintain knowledge of all pertinent flight and ground transport policies, procedures and SOP’s
Activate all crews for flights, coordinate ground, and any additional services as needed to complete patient transport and care
Maintain communication with medical crew to assure effective utilization of services according to policy, procedures and SOP’s, and provide accurate ETE of transport team to requesting and receiving facilities/agencies
Triage incoming calls and re-appropriate transports according to policy
Assure accurate documentation within the CAD system in accordance with FAA and CAMTS standards
Follow established policy of flight and ground transport monitoring, and initiate emergency procedures if necessary per policy
Maintain a working knowledge of communication equipment and applications
Request services as directed such as social services and pastoral care; notify appropriate departments of patient disposition; assemble and prepare appropriate charts and forms
Comply with all duties and responsibilities of a Flight Locator/Communication specialist per MRIS, L.L.C General Operations Manual
