  • Willing to undergo background check if required
  • Willing to shower, change clothing and footwear before entering the biosecure facility
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear provided; no jewelry except medical ID, body piercings covered
  • Willing to sign agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Willing to sign and abide by Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Able to work Sunday through Wednesday from 6:10 am to 4:10 pm (schedule subject to change)
  • Physically able to perform demands (e.g., carrying buckets, weighing feed, using scales, operating equipment)

Responsibilities

  • Observe hens for egg-laying behaviors, place in nest, remove after laying, mark egg with hen number, place in plastic flat, calculate and record eggs laid per flock (50%)
  • Provide daily flock care: calculate/record feed amounts, weigh and distribute feed to hoppers and males, weigh flocks weekly (40 females/120 males), collect weekly lab samples (boot swabs, cleft pallet swabs), monitor for injury/illness and report, collect/record/dispose of mortality (30%)
  • Maintain flock environment: flush water lines weekly, maintain pen bedding/nests to welfare standards, clear dust from equipment (fans, inlets) weekly with blower (10%)
  • Other duties: operate water hoses, maintain foot pans/hand sanitizer, maintain vehicle (check fluids, filters, tire pressure, clean/disinfect), keep work area clean/organized (10%)
