Requirements

Candidates should have relevant work experience building and evolving production software using Go and Python. Experience leveraging SaaS and cloud provider primitives, working with payment systems like Stripe or Recurly, and utilizing RDBMS such as MySQL or PostgreSQL with performant SQL queries is required. The ideal candidate works backward from the customer experience, is comfortable with build-versus-buy tradeoff conversations, and is self-directed towards excellent work outcomes. A bias towards action, experimentation, and a focus on quality are also essential.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer II will help define architecture and drive implementation changes across multiple backend services, translating large-scale architectural changes into manageable, incremental outcomes. Responsibilities include operating at multiple levels from defining system architecture to direct API implementation, advocating for system designs and APIs that make the right thing easy, and driving technically and organizationally scalable solutions. The role involves including customer experience in engineering discussions, investigating areas of uncertainty, owning complex projects spanning multiple domains, identifying and proposing solutions for team-wide improvements, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards, providing mentorship, managing cross-team commitments, and adapting to change while seeking personal growth opportunities.
