  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Active certification in the state of practice within 120 Days

  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends (e.g., Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm/2:00pm-10:30pm, every other weekend/holiday; 72hrs/2wks)

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to residents with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, repositioning, toileting, serving/collecting food trays, feeding, answering call lights)
  • Ensures a clean environment, transports patients upon admission/dismissal, assists with ambulation, and orients/reorients residents to the facility for safety
  • Performs vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, weight) and documents concise, factual information on appropriate forms
  • Performs or assists with specific medical care activities per policy/procedure (e.g., restorative exercises, collecting specimens, assessing/documenting cares)
  • Provides feedback to nursing staff on resident status changes, pain management, and concerns
  • Assists with restocking supplies, maintaining work environment, and cleaning procedures
  • Participates in providing emotional, educational, and spiritual support for families
  • Complies with resident rights (confidentiality, privacy) and reports allegations of abuse or misappropriation of property
  • Follows policies/procedures for fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control, hazardous/chemical communication
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for residents, families, and staff
  • Mentors new employees, assists with orientation, and serves as a lead example enforcing Avera's CARE standards
