Requirements

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - active license in the state of practice within 180 days
High School or GED equivalent (preferred)
Less than 1 year related experience or training (preferred)
Minimum age 18
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends (72 hours/2 weeks, every 3rd weekend/holiday, occasional call)

Responsibilities

Provide assistance to patients with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, repositioning, toileting, serving/collecting food trays, feeding, answering call lights, maintaining clean environment, transporting patients, assisting with ambulation, orienting/reorienting patients)
Perform vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, weight) and document concise, factual information
Assist patients with specific medical care activities per policy/procedure (e.g., restorative exercises, collecting specimens, assessing/documenting cares) and provide immediate feedback to nursing staff on patient status changes, pain, or concerns
Restock supplies, maintain work environment, and perform cleaning procedures
Provide emotional, educational, and spiritual support to families
Perform clerical duties (e.g., admission, discharge, transfers), keep patient records current, and enter data into computer
Follow policies/procedures for fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control, hazardous/chemical communication; maintain clean/safe environment
